More Bad Support
Ok, I have a problem with a Compaq dc5700 desktop computer. HP/Compaq wants you to go to their website now and login for support. So I go there, and get the following error, saying that my model is not supported, but here is a list of computers that are supported. Guess what, my model is in the first friggin section.
It took over an hour to get phone support on the line. Compaq/HP you suck at support. I hate calling India!

2 Weeks is a lifetime...
,Ok, I've been so busy the last two weeks that I haven't posted a thing.
I only worked 58 hours last week, and that kept me from most of my internet fun. I did go to San Antonio and setup a new bank branch and completely overhaul anothr brach. Today I'm at the office, I'm moving from one cube to another, I seem to get moved every month. It will be nice when we get our new office/data center built out this summer. Right now we are getting to be like sardines in this office.
I'm also working on my Exchange migration today. Got my tape drive library moved here and installed it in the Exchange server. For some reason Backup Exec is much happier if it runs on your Exchange server. So that is where it will be running, I'm even putting in version 11d, which looks like it kicks ass on the Exchagne backup portion.
Had a birthday a week ago Friday. Made it to 39. More folks loosing money in the Dren Death Pool. Guess all the ones that bet on didn't make it to 40 are starting to really sweat now. Work had a Snickers ice cream cake for me the week after my birthday. MMMM.... Diabetic delight!
Kids are getting bigger, our oldest is really starting to play and have fun with his brohter and sister. The twins are getting more and more animated and the little boy is just so very happy all the time. People keep commenting that they have never seen such a happy baby. And my daughter is just the sweetest thing.
The wife's last day on the job was Wednesday, she is now a stay at home mommy. She seems to like the change.
I think I have some cool pics on the camera to post soon, just have to get around to downloading them.
I might also be going to Atlanta this week, and on a private plane, so I can get some good arial photos without a stewardess yelling at me, that would be cool.

Steak - It's what was for diner on Friday
Friday night my wife took the kids to her mom's.
So I came home and ate healthy! MMM... 2 Pound T-Bone steak... And Ranch Style Beans with Jalapenos. Man was it good. Coated it in Lawry's Seasoned Salt, McCormick Hot Shot pepper blend and garlic powder. Cooked it about 4 minutes on each side out on the grill, so it was nice and rare, best meal I'd had in weeks.
Then I played with Clan Easy Frag till about 1 AM and went to bed.

Weekend Work & Peeped Out
Ok, I'm at the office today, catching up on paperwork and such.
One of the jobs I've been assigned is setting up computer policies for the entire bank. Lots of fun. I was given some templates to clean up and revise to get me started. Here is the best paragraph ever written to assign a task to a network administrator:
It is responsibility of the administrator to understand the purpose and function of each file on the bank’s computers. This record will be updated monthly and compared to the record of the previous month in an attempt to identify any logic bombs within a computer, which the virus scanner cannot detect.
Ok, sounds reasonable, so I have 25 servers, just checked my Domain Controller, it only as 18,089 files for me to memorize.
Yeah, think I'll strike that paragraph from the template.
Oh, I've been posted to 25peeps.com, so click on the link, go there and see if you can find me there. I know you really want to see what I look like!

Gimmie all the toolbars...
Ok, a friend of mine sent me this, the user complained their computer was runing slowly when the accessed the internet.
Ok, the use has loaded, Weatherbug, Google Toolbar, Yahoo Toolbar, MSN Toolbar, Google Desktop, AOL Toolbar, and My Web Search. You have to diable the pop-up blocker on 4 of the toolbars if you go to a site that requries pop-ups be allowed.
Best part, the end user doesn't want to get rid of the toolbars because they "need" them for things they want to do on the computer.

More School System Failure
Ok, I'm on the phone, I'm trying to order needles for my insulin pen from CVS Pharmacy.
I have the girl on the phone, I teller I need the BD Sharps quarter inch thirty one gauge needles.
She says, "We have five sixteenths in stock, is that the same size as quarter inch?"
I said, "No, that is thy the two numbers sound different when you say them, I want quarter inch."
She says, "We also have three sixteenths in stock, are those the same size?"
WTF? I asked, "Don't pharmacists go to college and take at least some basic math courses?"
She said, "Yes."
So I said, "This is really simple grade school math, I want quarter inch needles, not some other size."
I got put on hold, then she eventually came back and said they could not get the quarter inch any more. So I went with the five sixteenths.
Scares me these days what people do not know about basic things you need to survive.
