Folder Playlist Builder

I have about 9000 MP3's, hundreds and hundreds of CD's that I ripped, and created no album playlists. After much research today, I came across this great application for making the playlists automatically. Horray!

Christmas is good!

Ok, the boy got lots of toys, the wife got a Dyson Animal vacum cleaner, I got some cool tools. But I got the coolest piece of hardware ever. The D-Link Media Loung DSM-320. Plugged this baby in where my fried HTPC was in the media rack, loaded the software on my server and in 15 minutes was playing Audio, Video and looking at Photos. Bam! I love it when a product works this great! It's 1:15 AM, I'm going to bed now. Oh, and the snow all melted away today.

This one is for Jake!

Hey Jake,

It snowed yestereday in the Houston, TX area! That's right, we're having a white Christams! This is the view out my front door this morning. My one year old little boy has no idea what to make of the snow. This could be the only White Christmas in his lifetime in Houston, so we took plenty of pictures and video.

Hope yall are having a Merry Christmas up in Bend Land!

Last Week Sleep, This Week, Insomnia

Must be letting the paranoid side of things get to me tonight, can't sleep...

New job is totally awesome.

On Friday the boss came in handing out Amex Gift Cards to the staff. Since it was my fifth day there, I didn't expect to get one. He gave me one anyway. $100. Not a bad way to end the first week, but that was not the end. Friday night was the company Christmas party, and we were invited to attend. I dressed up sharp in a new dark red shirt and mint green tie, all Christmassy, and my wife wore a nice leather skirt and red top, again quite festive. When the boss and his wife (picture Gabrella from Desperate Housewives) showed up, they had a White Elephant game to setup for the crew. We ended up with two $25 gift cards for local resturants and a really nice cut glass Christmas ornament. Oh, there was incredibly good food too, I almost finished the Mile High Ice Cream Pie.

Blood sugar Saturday Morning, 288. (A good reading is 85-100)

Then Saturday started feeling rotten, flulike symptoms. Turned out my mother-in-law and sister-in-law were having similar problems. Looks like the boy brought home a treat from daycare.

Went to bed at 3:30 on Saturday afternoon and didn't get up till about 8:30 Sunday morning. Still felt like crap all day Sunday.

Got keys to the shop today at work. Shortly before accidentally crashing a server that I was checking out remotely. (Status, Disable, why put them so close together M$?) Still having a great day, been playing with Microsoft's new IM server and Virtual PC all day. Learning a lot of cool new stuff in the past six work days.

So what's my problem? Now that I have things rolling my way for a change, I'm wondering what will go wrong with the equation. Know I shouldn't really worry about things too much, but I'm so used to a lot of excess bullshit that I'm not quite sure how to live without it around.

So I came upstairs to unwind. Ripped a few CD's, think I'm in the 95% area of being done ripping. Just some classical stuff and a few discs that were not in the CDDB database. And it took my mind off my lack of actual problems and imagined problems for a little while. Worked like a charm.

Too Early For This...

I don't recall how I got to this site. It's too early for this shit, and yet I'm still laughing my ass off right now...

Ok,

So I changed jobs already. The exit interview at the old job was kinda funny. After being so pissed about the job for so long, I kind of got over it and just told them it was the travel that had me leaving. They were being cordial, and I couldn't see any reason to start a fight and burn a potential bridge upon leaving, I even got a recommend for Administaff of "Would hire again". Wohoo! Did have one funny moment, when my now ex boss asked if I was getting a pay raise, and I told him yes, and when he asked how much, I told him the truth, 12.5%.

The new job has been interesting. I'm pretty sure I'm now the oldest tech there by about 10 years. The company is much more organized. Has some cool software that was developed in house for scheduling and ticketing. Works great so far. I've been learning new things. Best part of the software? It automatically generates your TPS report every day. Now, if I just had a Red Swingline Stapler, life would be perfect.

Yesterday I went to a M$ "Hands On Security Training Lab", and would have to say that it is one of the best things I have ever been to for a M$ training, and it was Free! Freebie! Learned a lot of shit about Active Directory, Group Policy and how to make end users miserable. (Making your end users miserable is the first goal of any good System Administrator or Network Consultant.) Look like I have some new ways to fight spyware and keep the dummies from installing extra screen savers.

Still playing entirely too much Project Gotham 2 racing online. Think my rank online is about 31 right now. Started a clan thing that can be found here. So far I have one member, and one person who said they want to be a member, but has not signed up for the blog as of 5:00 AM today.

Oh yeah, what the hell am I doing up this early? Since changing jobs I've been much less stressed out, so I've been waking up at 4:30 AM and not able to go back to sleep. This morning I actually woke up at 3:30 AM and couldn't go back to sleep, so I got up about 4:15 and stared working on my video piracy project. I've been downloading Star Trek episodes for Voayger and Enterprise from the Usenet.

Nothing much else to report around here. We had a good birthday party for the boy, and have entirely too much stuff for him for Christmas. The house is starting to look like the Fisher Price aisle at Toys R Us.

My Carpel Tunnel Syndrome!

Hey, now that I'm done shopping for the wife for Christmas, I can look for something for myself. Too bad they are sold out. Guess I will have to wait for the Pamela Anderson or Dolly Parton model in the spring.

Corporate E-mail, drooling from the brain...

At least I'm not the only one who gets e-mails that are completely incomprehensible and has to act upon their messages.

My favorite e-mailers are the ones who don't know the difference between similar sounding, yet different words:

They forgot they're shoes.

Over their is ware they live.

There shoes are to small.

Still no patch for human stupidity, at least some folks are getting upgraded:

Happy Birthday To Mister Man

Our little guy turns one year old today. It seems like it was just yesterday that he was born, and I had to make the commute from August, GA to Houston, TX in record time with a little help from my friends at Delta Airlines. It has been one amazing year. To watch him go from 6 pounds to 25 pounds. From totally helpless, to raising cain all the time. He is walking, talking, and asking all the time, "What's that?" and pointing at things. We won't be aving a party until Saturday, when he will be getting tons of Peek A Blocks and other great learning toys. Should be a lot of fun for friends and family.
