What I did on my Summer Vacation, Day 2

6:20 AM - Wife woke me up as she was leaving for work. Sucker! Came out to start getting ready and noticed it was storming pretty hard. Turned on the local news, and it was storming so badly they decided to forgo Good Morning America today. Decided to let the boy sleep till the really hard rain passed. Read my e-mail and played on the net while listening to the news anchors trying to make everyone think the end of the world was coming in these storms.

7:20 AM - Storms have slowed for now. Woke the boy and got him dressed. Then we went to the Donut Store. He choose his own donut, a pink frosted donut with sprinkles, and chocolate milk. I had sausage kolaches and coffee. Then on to school with Mr Man. We got there about 8AM, whic is an hour later than usual. All the little boys and girls were there, and I got lots of high fives from everyone. Love little kids.

8:30 AM - Played a little Hexic, still working on Kicking AJ Venom's ass on that game.

10:00 AM - Finished up the wiring in the closet. The lights worked on the first try, and I didn't manage to electrocute myself. Guess my wife will have to wait for another day to collect the life insurance money. Moved a bunch of stuff into the new storage space, including all but two of my old car stereo trophies.

1:30 PM - Discovered a huge quantity of traffic going to the eBay Grifters Identification Project, so checked all the stuff on that site to make sure I get some clicks on my ads there.

2:00 PM - Cleaned up and headed out to hang out with the Wednesday Night Group. (Most of them are over 70, so Wednesday Night now starts at 3:30 PM and runs till about 6:30 PM.)

3:30 PM - Metup with the old men, drank entirely too much, and we were too stupid to come in from the rain, but had a great time. Then stopped at DQ for a Blizard and Wal Mart for some diapers on the way home.

9:45 PM - Back home, updating blog, going to crash when I am done.

Found another great Grifter Revenge site on the internet. Thanks Jake. This story is so damn funny. Never sell computer equipment without first wiping your hard drive. Not like it is rocket science.

What I did on my Summer Vacation, Day 1

By The Dren:

I'm on summer vacation this week folks. But I'm at that great age now, where I stay home and do stuff around the house. So here is my report, on what I did over my summer vacation. Just in case any little kids are reading my blog, it will help them in August when they have to write their papers in school this fall.

8:00 AM - Woke up. Great thing about getting up at 5:30 AM each day - when you are on vacation, sleeping till 8 is late. Ate some left over muffins and a Coke Zero.

9:00 AM - Started the yardwork for the week. Spread about 8 bags of much, redid the edges out front. Then it started raining about 10:20 - But my dad showed up then to help with a project in the house.

10:20 AM - Cut a hole in the wall between the master bedroom closet and the dead space under our stairs. Adding some storage space. Project went pretty well with dad's help. Even managed not to make any huges messes for the wife to complain about in the closet.

Noon - Dad headed home. Took a break, went to Sonic and got a hamburger, onion rings and orange slush. Health is my main concern here. Then came home and watched a Stargate Atlants from March on the Tivo while I ate, yeah, only a little behind on watching TV.

1:0o PM - Started the wiring in the closet and stairs. Been wanting to add an outlet halfway up the stairs since we moved in three years ago. Had to pull down some existing Romex and rewire most of the closet to get things ready, then figured out I didn't have any light fixtures for the new storage area.

3:45 PM - Took a shower and got ready to go pick up Mister Man and head to the Post Office and Home Depot.

4:15 PM - Stopped at the Post Office and sent of an XBOX memory module for some friends from Clan Easy Frag.

4:45 PM - Stopped by Mom and Dad's and got Mister Man. He was happy to see me.

5:15 PM - Took Mr Man to Home Depot and got a cover plate for the new setup in the closet, and some cheap incandescent light fixtures for the new storage area.

6:45 PM - Cooked a Red Baron Pizza for the family. Drank a couple of beers, ate the pizza.

8:25 PM - Put Mister Man to bed. Going to eat some Apple Pie and play Video Games till my eyeballs hurt.

Almost forgot, I got a book to read this week, I'll read a chapter before I hit the sheets tonight. There is a link to buy this incredible book, "If Chins Could Kill - Confessions Of A B-Movie Actor", it is the autobiography of Bruce Campbell, star of Evil Dead, Bubba Ho Tep, and frequent guest star on Xena and Hercules.

4 Homeless Guys Missing In Action

I took this picture this morning at the corner of Westheimer and Loop 610. You can see the four duffel bags for the homeless guys that normally occupy this corner. Yet they were nowhere to be found. I looked all over and did not see them.

I've named them all, there is Smelly - who I can smell from 10 feet away, even with all the windows of the truck rolled up, Yelly - who holds up a Vietnam Vet sign and yells at traffic, Belly - has a big pot gut and runs the squeegee, and Clyde - he sells Houston Chronicle newspapers.

Maybe they panhandled enough money this morning that they could walk over to the Starbucks down the street.

The New AT&T

Last month we did a project for a customer that has AT&T DSL service that wanted their own mail server.

So we upgraded them from Windows 2003 Server to Windows 2003 Small Business Server.

Called AT&T support and setup their Static IP range, and confirmed that their existing DSL modem would do PPoE on the modem.

Went over the day that the Static IPs were supposed to go into effect and started to setup the Modem and could not figure out how to setup PPoE on the modem, so I called Tech Support. This modem won't do PPoE, I need to buy a 2 Wire Gateway / Router for them instead. So I ordered the 2 Wire Gateway / Router.

A few days later, after it had come in, I went back and tried the install the 2 Wire product. Guess what, it won't do PPoE on the device either. So we sent that back. The tech told me that AT&T no longer offers any devices that do PPoE on the device. So I told the customer that I would do some research and get back with them on a solution and had them send the 2 Wire gateway / router back.

So last week, I got online and foung this Netopia 3346N Router / Modem that will do PPoE on the device, called Tech Support again to verify this, then called the customer to start the purchase approval process for the third time.

This morning I got the approval to purchase the Netopia unit for the customer. So I call AT&T to order. The first lady was very nice, but could not order me the device without a technician visit, so she connected me to the AT&T DSL store. The lady comes on the phone and asks what I need, frustrated that I have to repeat things again, I say, "I need to order a DSL router for a customer." She replied, "We don't offer DSL routers." By now, I've had enough with AT&T and their imcompetence. So I said, "You don't offer DSL routers, not even the Netopia listed in your eStore? Why is it listed in your eStore if you don't sell it anymore?" So she says, oh, that is a "DSL Modem and Router and we do sell that."

Morons.

Then, they can't bill it to our customer's DSL account or process our credit card, so I have to order it online or call back later.

Yeah, this is great. The new AT&T, just as incompetent and clueless as the old AT&T.

Assholes Of The Day Award

When I left for work this morning, every Stop sign, Speed Limit sign and every other traffic control sign had one of these signs attached.

I called the number on the sign and got voice mail, so I complained loudly on their system. Even left them my cell # to call me back. I'll see if they call to apologize.

Here is the asshole's website.

Here is their e-mail.

Mexican Foreign Minister Clueless

In response to the United States moving toward closing off our border with more fences, Mexican Foreign Minister Luis Ernesto Derbez has this to say about illegal immigration:
"There are 12 million Mexicans on the other side, 12 million people who live every day in anguish about the need for a reform to let them live peacefully."

What a jackhole.

I really don't see Illegal Immigrants who look anguished about their criminal activity in this country. In the videos I shot earlier this month, they looked quite happy. Instead of following our laws, they want us to change them. This is wrong. We need to wall off the border, then control who comes in and out and keep track.

No more free school, health care, etc. Charge them a fee to come in and take advantage of all our system has to offer. Make sure that they are paying income and other taxes. Deport the ones that enter illegally the first time, then put them in a Gulag for at least six months on subsequent violations.

I also call for an immediate ban on any Mexican citizen or corporation from lobbying our government until we can do the same to theirs.

Vicente Fox is Worried

Finally, President Bush is going to use US Troops to patrol the border and protect us from the invading forces from the south (Mexico, El Salvador, Costa Rica).

My favorite quote from Vicente Fox, Mexico's El Presidente:

"Mexican President Vicente Fox called Bush Sunday to express concern about what he called the possibility of a "militarized" border between the two nations."

Loosely translated: Mr. Fox is worried that he may now have to deal with the abject poverty created by his government. Instead of his citizens leaving to take advantage of free education and medical needs in the USA, he might have to do somethinhg for a change.

I say we should just bill Mexico for the services their citizens are ejnoying here as Illegal Aliens.

Grand Prix is coming to Houston!

The Grand Prix of Houston is coming for the weekend. I saw these two pretty cool rigs on the way to work this morning and got quick photos.

There was also an interesting article in the Houston Chronicle today about driver Katherine Legge, titled, Katherine Legge wants to be on magazine covers because of her driving, not because of her looks. So I went over to Google Images and looked her up like any good red-blooded American male.

I don't think she is going to have that problem...

My Mind Is Boggled

Last week we performed a server upgrade for one of our customers that runs GFI Mail Essentials for it's SPAM filtering. This upgrade was more of a replacement, and as a result, they have a clean install of SBS 2003 and GFI. This esentailly removed all their SPAM folders till they get more SPAM and all the filters are replaced.

Today I get a call from one of the users, "My SPAM folder is gone, and now I am missing all my important messages I had filed there."

It boggles my mind that users store "Important Messages" in their SPAM and Deleted Items folders. We get calls like this all the time. I can't even imagine what the rest of their lives must be like, but I can try.

Boss comes into the office, "Jones, where is that important contract we've been working on the past few months?" "Uh, boss, I stored it in the waist basket right here on the floor, and that bitch of a maid threw it out..."

Hey! It is another great Mexican Holiday! Stinko de Mayo! Hundreds of drunk illegal aliens, legal aliens, and citizens of the USA will be drinking to celebrate something that happened in Mexico a long time ago.

Illegal Alien Game

Here is a great game!

Read about it over at ABCNewes.com, seems some find it upsetting. Only thing I really found upsetting is that I only got 32 of 88 on the first attempt. I've got to get better at protecting our borders!

Illegal Alien Day

Calling an Illegal Alien an Undocumented Immigrant is like calling a Burglar an Uninvited House Guest.

Today I had the misfortune of driving through Memorial Park in Houston, as several thousand Illegal Aliens held a rally to show how we cannot live without them. I'd like to point out that today, while the Illegal Aliens were on strike, I had no delay at: Exxon, Walgreens, Antone's Po' Boys, and traffic around town was the same as usually, with the exception of Memorial park, it was much worse there than normal.

Check out the photos and videos I managed to get while stuck in traffic.

Lots of Illegal aliens, holding both their Mexican and American flags. Proper flag etiquette - No flag is to fly at the same height or higher than the American flag in this country. This is why state flags are always on shorter, adjacent polls, or under the American flag.

You can just make out these shirts. "Today we march. Tomorrow we vote." It is illegal for an illegal alien to vote. Oh, yeah, forgot, if they will break one law, they will break another. They are already voting, even though they are not citizens.

Sign says, "I have a dream - the Green Card". I have a dream too, you dead or deported.

If you read the white sign, the black letters on the other side reads "We are workers, not criminals, not terrorists." Fact of the matter is that if you are here without a work Visa, you are a criminal, guilty of breaking our immigration law. You are a criminal, and an invader. We should shoot invaders.

Here is an illegal alien too stupid to properly display the American flag she is pretending to love. However, as flying an American flag upside down is considered a sign of distress, I now consider this appropriate, and will begin to fly my flag upside down as well. We have been invaded, and until we fight back an repel this invasion, we are in distress.

Even a jackhole from El Salvador showed up. You know, El Salvador, the folks who brought us the MS-13 gang that is killing folks all across the country now that they have invaded.

Too stupid to wear a helmet. Also breaking the law in Texas unless they have special insurance to cover their stupid behavior.

Video 1 - Here you can see the Illegal Immigrants crossing against the traffic light. Then again, once you've crossed the Rio Grande illegally, what's crossing the street illegally?

Video 2 - Here you can see the Illegal Immigrants are well disciplined and not at all rowdy or causing an obstruction to traffic.
