Second Season Of Firefly Possible

Ok, if you loved Firefly and Serenity as much as I did, here is your chance to fill out a survey and have a snowball's chance in Hell of getting a second season of Firefly. (Sounds like I may be a little underwhelmed after trying to save Enterprise.)

Worth a try for a five minute survey.

Aspiring to be Number One

According to a report by some pansies up in Washington DC have published a list of cities that are "Meanest" to homeless people.

I have to say that I am very dissapointed in Houston coming in Seventh. I say if we work hard, we can be First next time! None of this crap of letting some backwater town like Sarasota, Florida beat us out of a great honor like this.

I say we first start by handing out new T-shirts out to all of our residents.

Next, we get all the Katrina Evacuees out of our town. The murder rate has skyrocketed since they got here, and most of them are not seeking jobs. Lets get them the hell out of here before they all get evicted from their rent-free apartments in August or September.

Next, I'm calling for summary executions of panhandlers at street corners. These guys stumble drunk into traffic asking for money. They reek, I can frequently smell theim in my car with all the windows rolled up and the AC turned off. I don't need a stinky ass drunk sticking his head, hands and other body parts into my car begging for money. Get a job you worthless lay-about.

Houston, we're Number 7, but with a little work, we can be Number 1!

Sold my favorite toy...

As I mentioned here previously, we have twins due in July.

So today I bit the bullet. I took my 1998 Countour SVT to the auto dealership and traded it in on a 2004 Mazda MPV. The twins will need the room, and we got a great deal on a LOADED vehicle. The Contour was also getting up there in miles, at 130,000 plus miles.

Today was a good day at work, I got to drive about 100 miles for work, so I got to spend some quality time with my baby. Just me and my big red machine on the open road.

This was the first car I ever bought outright, new on my own. It was loaded, with every option, and it was fast. I had many, many great times in that car. I had driven it from Pearland, TX to Sandusky, OH and back for a visit to Cedar Point Amusement Park, and all over Texas and Louisianna.

This car took me through four jobs, two wives, and my first child. It still looked great when I washed and waxed it, and the interior was still nice. It had a decent stereo that I had just finished installing, and removed on Sunday.

I'm not getting a bad vehicle in it's stead either, I had gotten my wife a 2002 Escape XLT that is pretty loaded for our first Valentine's day. I'm going to be driving it now, and she is going to drive the mini van.

But it still is not my baby. Ford only made 6535 1998 Countor SVTs, and mine was 791. I've got a certificate from SVT somewhere around here.

My wife has promised that somewhere down the road I will have another cool car. And I know she is probably right, but for now things are going to seem strange.

This car would have been replaced shortly due to age anyway, but I'll still miss the thing. Hard to explain love for a car, but of all the many things I have ever owned, it was my favorite.

Got a new toy!

Ok, I got a great new toy that is going to make things here even more fun. At Wal Mart I found a Philips Keychain Digial Camera for a paltry $14.97 plus Tax.

Ok, it does not take the highest resolution photos, it doesn't take the clearest photos. It doesn't have flash, zoom or a viewfinder that is useful.

So what does it have? It is about the size of a box of matches, runs on one AAA battery, and fits neatly in my backpack's top quick access section.

So, what will this be useful for? Observe the photo above and to the left. This is why you should learn to speak the language when you move here, then you won't have the Fucky restrurant.

Happy Birthday King

Ok, today is Elvis Presley's birthday! Woo-Hoo! Thank you, thank you very much!

Oh, and if you dress like Elvis at Chuy's today, you get to dine for free.

Hunka hunka burnin' love....

CORRECTION - Yesterday was Elvis' birthday, didn't pick up my Palm Pilot once yesterday.

TSA - Keeping you safe

Ok, I understand that working for the government, you don't have to do a great job, in fact, the post office where I live doesn't even do a good job.

However, this story defies comprehension. The TSA has barred a 4 year old from flying out of Houston as his name appears on their suspected terrorist no fly list.

The last couple of times I have flown have been a royal pain in the ass due to TSA regulations and rules. Gotta take of my shoes, do this, do that, turn on all my electronics, then, I'm allowed on the plane with 100' of network cable and a handful of insulin syringes. Yeah, that makes sense. Can't have nail clippers, but I can have enough syringes to inject everyone on the plane.
