It was twenty years ago today,

Sargent Pepper taught the band to play.

(A little Beatles for your enjoyment.)

Hard to believe it, but I was a High School senior at Friendswood High School twenty years ago.

This weekend is my 20 year reunion, the school does it at the Homecoming Football game, with a special reception after the game for 20 year seniors. Then there is a dinner/dance (Prom?) on Saturday night.

Ok, so I hated high school. I was a geek/athlete/loaner type. Yeah, I didn't really fit any one group, and didn't have a lot of friends.

So, why did I spend $120 on dance tickets, and why am I going to a high school football game, which I avoided for four years when I was in high school? Why am I driving my wife, who hates everything high school related even more than me, along?

Becuase I've been practing things to say when I see folks.

1. Wow, you've really put on weight.
2. Sorry about your career, looks like you really peaked in high school.
3. Funny, I didn't think you would be out on parole so soon.
4. I always figured you were gay.
5. Really, that wasn't you in that porno I downloaded from the net?

I'm sure I'll think of other things to say to people, but I've got to practice the ones above to make sure I forget none of them, and overuse all of them.

On a related note, children should be an interesting subject. I'm going to run into folks that got married and started up right out of high school and have kids that are or nearly are college age. Here I'll be toting pictures of my two year old. Should make for an interesting weekend.

Send me any good questions/things to say that come to mind. Help me make this a memorable weekend for all.

Comments:
"You know, my urologist friend had some funny things to say about you..."

(in reference to girls you dated in school -- staring right at their breasts): "You know, those don't look like they used to...."

(those are a couple I came up with, but Google found this gem to print up and stick in your pocket)

Thanks Jake, that gave me a great laugh today.
