Health Update

Went to the doctor today for my quarterly checkup.

I'm now officially diabetic. One year since I got out of the hospital, and still taking insulin. Looks like it's needles for me for the rest of my life.

Hand still hurts from time to time, but it's getting better. Nerve damage is a strange thing when it is healing.

Going in next month for another CT Scan, can't wait to drink the barrium!

Still beats being six feet under!

Still want to work in IT?

Spent all last night at the lovely Huntsville, TX LaQuinta.

Got in this morning thinking things were pretty much under control.

WRONG!

Active Directory was messed up, the C: partition with not enough space was still the culprit, and now at 6 PM, I finally have all the applications back up and running. No actual food was consumed today, but plenty of junk food was eaten in it's place.

"Welcome to Wal-Mart, here's a cart, there's lots of cheap crap to buy over there...."

I blew up the server, real good...

So, you want a job in IT? Ready for things to self destruct right in front of your face? Ready to give up your life for data recovery?

10 AM this morning, C: partition of a W2K DC was down to 118MB free. Thought to myself, increase the partition size, fix some network problems. It's easy. You've done it dozens of tiems.

11:00 AM Customer buys Acronis disk partition software. I repartiton and reboot. Drives resize in service window, server reboots, all data on C: vanishes.

11:30 AM begin panic.

Calls to Dell, Veritas, Tech Data, Office, Coworkers all yield no help.

Finally open up a support incident with Veritas for $89.00 US.

It is now 7:30 PM and I think I just got the data and system state restored from last night's backup. Not going home tongiht. Spending the night at the Huntsville, TX La Quinta. Hope they've added internet access. Nothing else to do in Huntsville on a Tuesday night.

Wohoo! Just logged into the server, in the domain!

User is logging and testing SNA connectivity. SNA works! (Amazing what will excite a geek.)

Take it from me, friends don't let friends work in IT. Become something with your life that can't be exported to Bangladesh, like a truck driver or Wal-Mart greeter.

Biblical Laws for Children

I'm going to have to print these out and put them up on the refrigerator at home!

Thanks, Jake!

The Force can have a powerful influence over the Geek mind...

Watched the "New" original Star Wars movies this weekend. Replaced my Pirated SVCD versions from Laser Disc with George Lucas' latest incarnation of the movies on DVD.

All I can say is WOW, they look spectacular, sound incredible, and were just as much fun as I remembered.

Live in a cave? Didn't know they came out last week? Check out the link below:

Isn't it ironic?

I'm a big fan of irony, and this is a good one, a former Sara Lee executive was found dead, in a freezer case, in a storage building in South Carolina. Evidently the unfortunate victim of a botched carjacking, he ended up where he spent his career putting things, in the deep freeze.

A simple solution to Phishing:

The following is not a link to E-Bay, it is a Phish (Fish) scammer trying to get my credit card information. How can we help put a stop to this? Go to the site, and submit bogus information, say 10-20 times. I did this morning. It felt good, took about a minute, and if everyone who got one of these went and made shit up, it would slow them down when they try to get useful information from the sites.

A simple solution to terrorists:

For the second time in two days, terrorists have murdered a hostage from the United States, while demanding the release of two female prisoners in Iraq.

It is time to kill those prisoners that the Peace Loving Muslims are demading to be released and give them their dead bodies.

Next time those Peace Loving Muslims kidnap another United States citizen, immediately take an Al Queda prisoner out of their cell and kill them.

Make it clear, kill us, kill you. Fuck this pussy shit of hunt you down and try you, just kill them where they stand. Leave the body for their friends to clean up later.

Lost your Digital Film?

Why is this so funny to me? Because I cannot count the times my mother left a camera somewhere while we were on vacation. In the rental car, at the theme park, in a hotel room.

Maybe at least the folks in the pictures from the blog below will get their stuff back. :)

Meanwhile, remember this when you find a camera on a tourist spot and turn it into Lost and Found: TAKE A PICTURE OF YOUR GROUP with it before turning it in, so the owner will know what you look like.

Muslim bad at English

See the first linke below, defining uniform as, "not varying or variable", then on past that where a Peace Loving Muslim (PLM?) has requested and later given up, wearing a different uniform than everyone else on the team. Yeah, it's the same, but different...

Just a quickie...

Wanted to write something more today, but I've been too busy. Just wanted to note that today is one year to the day since I got out of the hospital from the Coma.

Whoops!

I'm still playing the shit out of Project Gotham Racing 2 on my Xbox. We've been playing something called "Elemination" where the object is to wreck others, and the conversation will always turn to wrecking real cars. I wonder what it would be like to really wreck an Enzo Ferrari. Well, here is a web site dedicated to wrecked cars that cost way more than most people's houses.

Man, they didn't list a single one of my favorites. Where is the naked sky diving? Naked beech volleyball? Or naked galligator wrestling?
